The Turkish flower sector exported 141 million dollars last year and set a target of 150 million dollars for 2025.
İsmail Yılmaz, Chair of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters’ Association, said that as a sector, they export a significant amount of cut flowers, indoor and outdoor plants, flower bulbs, seedlings, saplings, wreaths and moss groups.

Stating that they exported 141 million dollars to 80 countries last year, Yılmaz also noted that they set a target of 150 million dollars for 2025.
Expressing that they are looking at this year with more hope, Yılmaz said, “As the sector, we have overcome the problem of sending fruit saplings for landscaping purposes abroad.”
Everything is OK for the Japanese market, the only problem is the shipping fee…
İsmail Yılmaz underlined that in order to ramp up exports, they are working on alternative markets on the one hand in existing markets and on the other hand in alternative markets.
Emphasising that they are present in 80 countries as a sector, Yılmaz said that this year they especially want to enter the Japanese market.

Explaining that Japan is an important market in flower exports, Yılmaz continued his words as follows:
“Japan is a big market, with an import volume of approximately 600 million dollars. Unfortunately, we are not in this market. We carried out a Development of International Competitiveness Project (Development of International Competitiveness) to Japan 2 months ago. We had good contacts. We brought 13 companies here during the bilateral meetings we held in Japan. They were very satisfied. We continue to work for export. We want to send flowers to Japan this year.”
Yılmaz added that if they open up to the Japanese market, they can exceed their annual exports of 150 million dollars…
