Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they had exported 142.3 million dollars in May.

Stating that the sector converted 172,446 tonnes of products into value in the AHBİB responsibility area in May, he said, “In the fifth month of the year, pastry products, pulses and vegetable oils ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the list of product groups with the highest exports. We exported 29.9 million dollars worth of pastry products, 28.1 million dollars worth of legumes and 19.8 million dollars worth of vegetable oils. During this period, red lentils were the most important product in our regional exports. Red lentils, which reached a value of 17.4 million dollars, accounted for 12 percent of the region’s sector exports.”

“We achieved record increases in export volumes in Algeria, Belgium, and Palestine.”
Evaluating AHBİB’s May exports by country, he noted that the most important markets were the Middle East, Africa, the European Union and American countries and that export volumes surged in 67 out of 122 countries.
“In May, Iraq, Iran, and Syria ranked in the top three among the countries to which we exported the most. We exported 17.2 million dollars to Iraq, 13.8 million dollars to Iran and 10.6 million dollars to Syria. Among the markets where we achieved significant increases in export volume during this period, Algeria, Belgium, and Palestine stood out. We reached 6.4 million dollars in the Algerian market with a 1,298 percent spike, 2.9 million dollars in the Belgian market with a 961 percent spike and 3.2 million dollars in the Palestinian market with a 580 percent spike,” he added.

“Other markets where we recorded significant increases in May were Senegal, the Seychelles, Djibouti, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Slovenia, and Bahrain. In the meantime, AHBİB’s export performance reached 738.4 million dollars in the January-May period of 2025,” he concluded…
