Press release…

Muhammet Öztürk, Chair of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector is the clear leader in Türkiye’s food product exports, however they experienced a decline in exports in 2024 due to the drop in commodity prices, but that exports began to surge again in 2025.

Pointing out that the export of cereals, legumes and oilseeds surged by 4.2 percent across Türkiye in the first five months of 2025, from 5.018 billion to 5.23 billion dollars, he said, “We achieved a more successful export performance in the Aegean Region. We expect the increase in exports to continue in the second half of 2025. We aim to reach an export level of 1.1 billion dollars by the end of 2025. If we obtain an export permit for India, our largest export market for poppy seeds, one of the most important export items of the Aegean Region, we can reach an export figure of 1 billion 200 million dollars.”
