The Turkish food industry, which realized an export of over 1 billion dollars for the first time in 2021 to the USA, the world’s largest food importer and aims to export 2 billion dollars in 4 years, participated in the New York Summer Fancy Food Show Fair, the largest food fair in the USA, with 30 companies.

The Summer Fancy Food fair, which took place in New York on 12-14 June 2022, opened its doors for the 68th time this year.

Turkiye’s booth became the focus of attention of visitors from many different countries…

Aegean Exporters’ Associations Vice Coordinator Hayrettin Uçak said that they had a strong sectoral participation with 30 companies in the New York Summer Fancy Food Show Fair.

Uçak said, “Our companies became the focus of attention of visitors from many different countries with their participation and promotion of a wide range of products from dried fruits, canned foods, pickles, snacks, infused foods, sauces, olives and olive oil, macaroni, cheese varieties, ice cream and desserts and bakery products sectors. Moreover Chef Özlem Oğuzcan created menus with targeted export products for the USA. During the three-day fair, menus were prepared three times a day at the Turkiye Brand Stand and visitors were given tastings. Recipes from the Turkish Tastes Reference Cookbook were also used in some of the dishes on the menu.”

Turkish cuisine is taught in high schools in the USA…

“The richness of Turkish food products, the variety of products grown in the fertile lands of our country, as well as compatibility with the Mediterranean diet, our strong partnership with UNLV and NvRA – our international work, the positive opinions of the students about Turkish cuisine were among the topics discussed at the launch,” he added.

“We had Turkish cuisine taught in the curriculum of Las Vegas University William F. Harrah Tourism and Hotel Management School for 5 years. In addition to the work with the University of Las Vegas, Turkish cuisine has started to be included in high schools through the Nevada Restaurant Association,” he concluded…
