FUAT TANMAN; NEW CHAIR OF THE ASSOCIATION OF BETTER COTTON PRACTISES (IPUD)

Press release…

The Association of Better Cotton Practices (IPUD), which serves to provide common benefits for the relevant parties by expanding sustainable cotton production in Turkey, held its 4th ordinary general assembly.

The new board of directors of the association, which implements the Better Cotton Standard and is responsible for the implementation of this standard in Turkey, elected Fuat Tanman, the representative of Tanmanlar Agricultural Enterprises and also a Better Cotton farmer in Söke district of Aydın province, as the chairperson.

Stating that the association, which has been continuing its activities since 2013, grows stronger day by day and responds to a very important need, Leon Piçon, the former chairman of the board, said, “He has taken an active role in our board of directors since the foundation of the association and has also adopted sustainable cotton production in its own lands. I am happy to hand it over to Mr. Fuat Tanman and I believe he will carry out this responsibility successfully.’

Pointing out that with the strong partnerships established by the association, approximately 10 percent of the cotton production in Turkey in the 2020-21 cotton season is ensured to be produced in the Better Cotton standard, IPUD Chairman Fuat Tanman explained, “We will continue our work with the vision of a country where cotton production is environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.”
