In Iğdır, which is the “Çukurova of the East” with its climate and geographical conditions, the harvest of the apricot, which is called yellow gold and whose geographical sign has been obtained, has started.
Iğdır apricots are also sent to metropolitan cities such as Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Bursa, Erzurum and other provinces and districts. According to the data obtained from the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, there are 414 thousand 320 apricot trees in Iğdır in 2022. In addition, apricot production will be carried out this year on an area of 39,805 decares.
An annual average of 43 thousand 316 tonnes of fresh apricots will be produced from 286 thousand 790 apricot trees, which show economic efficiency.
