ALİ KINDAP: GEOTHERMAL ENERGY CAN INCREASE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Geothermal Energy Association (JESDER) President Ali Kındap stated that the installed power in geothermal energy has reached 1613 megawatts and the studies show that the electricity generation potential of geothermal energy is 5 thousand megawatts and the thermal capacity is 60 thousand megawatts.

Geothermal Energy Association President Ali Kındap said that in the wake of search and exploratory studies of private sector, the geothermal resource potential has showed an increase across Turkey.

Indicating that the widespread adoption of integrated uses of geothermal energy resources will add value to Turkey’s economy, Kındap noted, “With the introduction of the integrated use of geothermal energy, it has become widespread in areas such as city heating, greenhouse heating, fishing and geothermal mining in addition to electricity generation in recent years.”

“In addition, we see that there are many applications in different fields such as lithium production, which is used as battery raw material, thermal tourism, health tourism, vegetable and fruit drying. As the association, we continue to work to make the necessary arrangements to bring geothermal energy to these areas and to provide the needed support. Millions of houses can be heated with geothermal energy, agricultural production can be increased in hundreds of thousands of decares of modern greenhouses and this can contribute to employment,” Kındap explained.
