The Turkish Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board met with public institutions, local governments, professional organizations, research institutions and sector representatives in Malatya on July 14, 2026…

During the programme, the sustainability of dried apricot production and export, licensed warehousing, continuity of product supply, food safety, branding, R&D and inter-institutional cooperation were discussed.
Following the programme, Şemsettin Özgür, Chairman of the Turkish Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, stated that Malatya apricots are one of Türkiye’s most important agricultural prestige products in world markets.
Stating that the last year’s agricultural frost was an extremely challenging period for the sector, Özgür said, “Despite this, our producers, exporters and all stakeholders demonstrated strong solidarity and made great efforts to maintain our presence in export markets.”
“The process clearly showed how important proper storage and continuity of product supply are. Yield losses due to climate conditions can occur in agricultural production. Therefore, in years with abundant yields, safe storage and uninterrupted supply to world markets are of great importance. In the new period, our priority is to regain the markets we lost, increase our strength in existing markets and export Malatya apricots with higher added value,” he he noted.
Pointing out that food safety, quality, traceability and the expectations of target markets will be their fundamental priorities in this process, he added, “By acting in strong cooperation with our public institutions, local governments, producers, exporters, professional organizations and research institutions, we will shape the future of Malatya apricots with a shared vision.”
