FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE EXPORTS REACHED 518.7 MILLION DOLLARS, DRIVEN BY THE TANGERINE SECTOR…

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye achieved exports of 518.7 million dollars in November, representing a 44 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Emphasising that the Mediterranean region recorded exports worth 318.6 million dollars in the 11th month of the year, representing a 60 percent increase, Chairman Ferhat Gürüz also stated that they contributed 61 percent to the sector’s exports nationwide.
“We exported mostly tangerines, lemons and tomatoes”

Pointing out that the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector converted 484,666 tonnes of products into value in international markets in November, Ferhat Gürüz underlined that the strong results achieved in citrus products were particularly noteworthy.
Highlighting that tangerines were the most decisive product in November in terms of both quantity and value increase, Gürüz said, “We reached a value of 239.5 million dollars with a 139 percent increase in tangerines. Following tangerines, which accounted for 46 percent of our sector’s exports, lemons ranked second with a 14 percent share and a value of 70.3 million dollars, while tomatoes ranked third with a 6 percent share and a value of 32.1 million dollars. Among the products for which we achieved an increase in export volume during the period in question, carrots and radishes stood out with a 220 percent spike and a value of 3.4 million dollars. We also achieved significant momentum in the export of lemons, grapes, cucumbers, chestnuts, pumpkins and dates.”
