“We exported the most pastry products and pulses”

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they exported 156 million dollars in July, a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Assessing AHBİB’s July sector exports by product group, Chairman Veysel Memiş stated that they exported the most pastry products, pulses, vegetable oils and sugar and sugar products.

Pointing out that pastry products topped July exports with a 16 percent increase, reaching 36.4 million dollars in value, he explained, “Pulses were second with 27.6 million dollars and vegetable oils were third with 24.2 million dollars. Milling products topped the export growth rate with a 93 percent increase. Our exports in this product group reached 19 million dollars. Vegetable oils saw a 39 percent increase, while cocoa products saw a 38 percent increase, reaching 3.6 million dollars. Our top export was other sugars, with a value of 17.6 million dollars, followed by red lentils with 17.2 million dollars and sweet biscuits and wafers with 12.6 million dollars.”

He also emphasized that the figures achieved in the region’s export markets across the globe demonstrate the sector’s dynamism and dedication, saying, “These figures demonstrate the dynamic nature of our sector and its relentless efforts to maximize opportunities. They are also of great importance as they demonstrate that we can achieve much more if the exchange rate and cost balance reach levels that support our exporters.”
