TURKİYE’S FISH MEAL AND OIL EXPORTS DECREASE DUE TO CONTAINER PROBLEM…

Container problem caused a decrease in Turkiye’s fish meal and oil exports…

Exports of fish meal and oil from Turkiye in 2021 decreased by 65 percent in quantity and 58 percent in value, compared to the previous year, due to the shortage of containers faced by exporters as a global problem.

Fish meal and oil

According to the information compiled from the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 9,287 tonnes of fish meal and oil were sold from Turkiye last year. A revenue of 19 million 134 thousand 283 dollars was obtained from foreign sales to 31 countries.

Compared with the sales of 26 thousand 333 tonnes in 2020 and the revenue of 45 million 823 thousand 716 dollars in the same area, the 2021 figures were recorded as a 65 percent decrease in quantity and 58 percent in value.

The most important reason for the decrease in exports was the inability to send products to countries such as Vietnam, Denmark and France, which make high purchases, due to the container problem last year.

Most fishmeal and oil sold to Peru…

Peru, Norway, Israel, Colombia and Taiwan were the top exporters of fishmeal and oil in 2021.

Last year, unlike in 2020, Turkiye also sold fish meal and oil to Thailand, Iceland and Belarus.
