Hüseyin Aydın, General Manager of Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Türkiye (TTKK), announced that they will boost grain seed production by 100 percent in line with their 2025 targets. TTKK realised a record level of input sales this year and provided significant support to farmers in product purchases.
Hüseyin Aydın, General Manager of TTKK, also stated that they will invest in the seed and pesticide sector next year and said, “In 2025, we are increasing the production of cereal seed by 100 percent.”
Aydın told Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent about Agricultural Credit’s activities in 2024 and its targets for 2025.
Emphasizing that TTKK is a cooperative organisation that protects both producers and consumers, Aydın said that the organisation is self-sufficient and has 800 thousand farmer partners.
“We boost seed production”
Pointing out that they will also make investments in the field of certified seeds next year, Aydın explained, “Now seed production is an extremely critical and important sector. We have a seed company in Altınova. Our market share here was around 5 percent. In 2025, we are ramping up our cereal seed production by 100 percent. We also want to reduce the country’s foreign dependency in the field of seed, especially in the field of certified seed. We earn foreign currency by selling abroad and we contribute to foreign currency earning transactions by reducing imports.”
Indicating that they also have ongoing investments in Aegean province of Manisa, Aydın added, “We are making a large investment of approximately 50 million dollars in Manisa and we have a serious plant protection investment here. TTKK will increase its share in the agrochemical sector and seed production from around 5 percent to 10 percent.”
