TGDF; THE RISE IN IMPORTS OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE DECREASES…

According to Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey (TGDF) Digital Data Panel, the rise in imports of food and agricultural products decreased in April.

According to a statement made by TGDF, considering the Digital Data Panel of TGDF, prepared by Agrimetre on the basis the data announced by Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK), agriculture, food and drink industry made 6,79 billion dollars of exports and 5,22 billion dollars of imports in the first four months of 2020.

Exports increased by 16.1 percent in the first 4 months of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports increased by 20.6 percent. In the first quarter of 2020, imports increased by 26.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. This showed that the increase in imports slowed down in April compared to the first 3 months of the year.

In April, imports increased by 5.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 1.35 billion dollars. Monthly exports rose 14.6 percent to 1.61 billion dollars.

The foreign trade balance of the sector increased by 31 percent in the first 4 months of 2020 and reached 1.57 billion dollars. The foreign trade balance in the first 3 months of the year was 6.1 percent lower than the same period of the previous year.

In the first four months of 2020, the export unit value was almost 1,041 / ton dollars in the same period of the previous year, while the import unit value increased by 4.3 percent to 489 / ton dollars.
