Sebahattin Arslantürk: The upward trend in hazelnut exports continues

In the January-October period of 2024; hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 254 thousand 174 tonnes and 2 billion 61 million 706 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was obtained in return. When these export realisations were compared with the same period of the previous year, an surge of 14 percent in the amount of hazelnut exports and 46 percent in value was achieved.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee Vice Chair Sebahattin Arslantürk stated that exports were made to 125 different countries from the country in the 10-month period and that the top 5 countries to which the most exports were made were Germany, Italy, Poland, France and the People’s Republic of China, respectively.

Pointing out that the hazelnut export season, which started in September, made a very good opening, Arslantürk said, “In the second month of the hazelnut export season, 64 thousand 856 tonnes of hazelnut exports were exported in return for 518 million 256 thousand dollars in foreign currency inflow obtained. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an increase of 20 percent in quantity and 46 percent in value.”

When it comes to the hazelnut exports from Black Sea’s Trabzon province, Arslantürk added. “In the 10-month period of 2024, 71 thousand 858 tonnes of hazelnut exports from Trabzon in return for 618 million 673 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided and in the first two months of the 2024/2025 export season, 12 thousand 756 tonnes of exports were made for 110 million 805 thousand dollars.”
