Press release…
Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice Chairman of the Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), said that in order to maintain the superiority in international markets in hazelnut exports, which is the agricultural product that provides the highest net foreign exchange inflow of Türkiye, it is of great importance to take measures in advance for the negativities that will arise from climate change.
“Climate change which is a global threat for all agricultural products and that, considering the yield losses caused by global warming every year, great losses will be experienced in the sector if we do not work to improve our current situation,” Arslantürk said.
Arslantürk also mentioned that all countries with agricultural superiority have made agriculture and food products the most important strategic sector in order to protect against the risk of climate change in the coming period and to ensure the food security of the population and have implemented intensive measures and support policies for the risk of global warming.
Pointing out that they should also show the necessary sensitivity to this situation, Arslantürk added, “The Ministries should urgently implement the policies that are essential to ensure sustainability in agricultural products and to encourage the farmers to produce and underlined that the support to be given to the exporter will be an important investment in order not to lose our strategic superiority in hazelnuts.”
