Eastern Black Sea’s 4-month exports of Turkish salmon surged by 56 percent…
Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea surged by 56 percent in the January-April period and reached 44 million 292 thousand 248 dollars.
Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), said that 8 thousand 633 tonnes of Turkish salmon were exported to 19 countries from the region.
Stating that 44 million 292 thousand 248 dollars of revenue was obtained from these exports, Kalyoncu rported that exports rose by 111 percent in quantity and 56 percent in value compared to the same period of last year, when 28 million 479 thousand 226 dollars were earned for 4 thousand 89 tonnes.
Kalyoncu also pointed out that the Russian Federation ranked first in the exports of the region and continued his words as follows:
“Turkish salmon worth 28 million 856 thousand 841 dollars was sold to the Russian Federation in 4 months of the year from our region. Russia was followed by Vietnam with 8 million 980 thousand 729 dollars and Japan with 3 million 123 thousand 818 dollars. In this period, different from the same period of last year, exports were made to Egypt, Ukraine, People’s Republic of China, Lithuania, Philippines, Malaysia, Spain, Kenya, France and Denmark.”
Indicating that 65 percent of the region’s exports in value were carried out from Black Sea’s coastal province of Trabzon, Kalyoncu said, “5 thousand 592 tonnes of Turkish salmon were exported from Trabzon in the January-April period and 28 million 679 thousand 781 dollars were earned in return.”
