Russia’s vegetable imports increased by 9.9% and fruit imports by 2.4% year-on-year in 2024, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision revealed on Friday.
More vegetables and fruits were imported to Russia from friendly countries last year.
The statement said vegetable imports increased by 9.9% to 1.7 million tonnes last year compared to 2023, while fruit imports rose by 2.4% to 6.1 million tonnes.
The country’s imports of peaches, plums, and cherries increased by 3.9% to 722,600 tonnes, with Türkiye serving as the primary supplier.
