Turkish dried fruit exporters are embarking on an expedition to India…

Aegean dried fruit exporters, which alone account for 60 percent of Türkiye’s annual dried fruit exports of 1.7 billion dollars, have India on their radar within the scope of the Ministry of Trade’s Far Countries Strategy.

Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, started to work to organise a “Turkish Dried Fruits and Products Sectoral Trade Delegation” to Mumbai, India between 10-15 February 2025.

Within the scope of the ‘Turkish Dried Fruits and Products Sectoral Trade Delegation’, Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters‘ Association, informed that they are continuing their preparations for Turkish companies to hold bilateral business meetings with India’s leading dried fruit buyers, wholesalers, retailers, companies using dried fruits in their products. He stated that they will visit institutions and market chains related to the dried fruit sector and promote the Turkish dried fruit sector, which is the world leader in the production and export of sultanas, dried apricots, dried figs and pistachios.

Pointing out that India’s annual import of raisins, dried apricots, dried figs and pistachios is 464 million dollars, Işık said, “Türkiye is the fourth largest supplier after Afghanistan, USA and Iran. We have 7 million dollars of exports to India in 2023. Our goal will be to reach a market share of 10 percent in the Indian market in the first stage and 20 percent in the medium term. During our contacts in India, we will also visit MEWA India 2025 Global Nuts and Dried Fruits Fair.”

Işık also reminded that India was determined as one of the target markets together with China and Russia within the scope of the Turkish Dried Fruits Turquality Project, which was carried out between 2024 and 2027 under the coordination of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters‘ Association and in partnership with the Istanbul and Southeastern Anatolia Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Associations.

“We will organise Press Launch, Cocktail and Tasting Events within the scope of the TURQUALITY Project simultaneously with the ‘Turkish Dried Fruits and Products Sectoral Trade Delegation’. We will organise a tasting event in the area prepared for Turkish Dried Fruits Tasting and Promotion events at MEWA India 2025 Global Nuts and Dried Fruits Fair,” Işık added…
