Press release…
Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that Türkiye achieved exports worth 398 million dollars in February, representing a 25 per cent spike compared to the same period last year. Noting that the volume of exports had decreased by 14 per cent to 324 million kilograms during the same period, Chairman Ferhat Gürüz stated that this trend reflected a spike in product prices and value-added exports.

Assessing Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports for February by product group, Gürüz highlighted the export performance of the citrus and fresh vegetable sectors in particular. “In February, our citrus exports rose by 36 per cent in value terms, reaching 206.9 million dollars. The citrus sector continues to account for more than half of our total exports. Our fresh vegetable exports also rose to 144 million dollars, marking a 32 per cent spike in value,” Gürüz said.
Emphasising that tangerines maintained a clear lead when assessed by product, Gürüz said, “Exports reached 127.2 million dollars in February, recording a 47 per cent increase in value.”
Drawing attention to the rise in pepper and tomato exports within the vegetable group, he added, “Our pepper exports reached 58 million dollars, marking a 66 per cent increase. Tomatoes, with exports of 50.6 million dollars, continue to be one of the sector’s strongest products. Strong demand from the European market played a significant role in this increase.”
