Nurettin Tarakçıoğlu, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association, said that all of Türkiye’s oregano exports are made from the Aegean region.
“As Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), the Green Consensus regulations that we are most concerned about, because sustainability starts from production,” he said.
Pointing out that the ‘Spice Exporters Group’, which they have established within EIB with their companies that make the majority of the country’s spice exports, he added, “This an important step both in strengthening our market strategy and in solving our problems that we will face radically.”
Emphasizing that oregano, laurel and sage are their value-added products, he concluded, “At the same time, we have the largest share in production and exports in the world. Almost all of oregan production in Türkiye, which exceeds 20 thousand tonnes, is exported. With new oregano plantations, we have the potential to produce 25 thousand tonnes of oregano in the short term and 40 thousand tonnes in the medium term.”
