Warm contact with the producer should be ensured…
Muhammet Öztürk, Chair of Aegean Cereals, Pulses and Oil Seeds Exporters’ Association, stated that in order to offer quality and standardised production to the world markets, oregano producers should be supported, harvest their products more consciously and efficiently and trainings should be increased for farmers.tion
“We need to increase our producer meetings, workshops and trainings where we will provide warm contact with the producer by explaining the correct practices to be considered in the cultivation of oregano plant, and we need to use TV channels, social media and digital media intensively. For a long time, we have been carrying out training activities for our farmers in regions where oregano production is intensive,” he said.
“In order to reach more farmers, we have also prepared a video series in cooperation with a thematic TV channel. In this group, which we have formed with the members of our Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association along with Cereals, Pulses and Oil Seeds Exporters’ Association, we will establish contacts with relevant institutions and organisations in order to quickly address and solve all common problems of the sector and share current developments instantly,” he added.
We need to create an action plan specific to oregano…
Pointing out that the Crop Production Agriculture Based Specialised Organised Industrial Zone to be established in Kınık district of Izmir province for seedlings of medicinal and aromatic plants is a great advantage for the country in this period when concerns about food are surging all over the world, he concluded, “In Denizli region, which produces 75 percent of the world’s and 85 percent of Türkiye’s oregano, we are opening new oregano production areas with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. We aim to boost natural oregano production by bringing together the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Producer Organisations, Provincial Directorates of Agriculture, universities and companies on a common ground by preparing sustainable production-oriented projects. We need to create an action plan specific to oregano.”
