Japan’s food imports have soared by 17 percent in the last 5 years from 62 billion to 73.6 billion dollars, while Türkiye’s food exports to Japan increased by 72 percent in the same period from 164 million to 282 million dollars. Türkiye, the world’s food warehouse, is participating in the Foodex Japan Fair in Tokyo on 5-8 March 2024 with 51 companies with a target of 1 billion dollars in exports to Japan.
Öztürk, “Japanese liked Turkish pasta the most”
Muhammet Öztürk, President of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, said that the grains, pulses, oil seeds sector is the leader in the export of food products from Türkiye to Japan with a share of 95 million dollars.
Stating that they have a 34 percent share in food exports from Türkiye to Japan, Öztürk said, “While pasta is at the top with 62 million dollars in our exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds and oilseeds sector, our chocolate product exports are 11 million dollars.”T
“These products were followed by vegetable oil exports with 5.7 million dollars and white chocolate products with 5.5 million dollars. In 2024, we will work to exceed 100 million dollars in exports to Japan,” he added…
