Mehmet Cirav: New hazelnut export season started with 30 percent hike

In the January-September period of 2024; hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 214 thousand 323 tonnes and 1 billion 740 million 734 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return. When these export realisations are compared with the same period of the previous year, it corresponds to a hike of 11 percent in quantity and 44 percent in value.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, stated that exports were made to 124 different countries from the country in the 9-month period and that the first 5 countries with the highest exports were Germany, Italy, Poland, France and Austria respectively.

Cirav also mentioned that the hazelnut export season, which started in September, made a very good opening and said that in the first month of the hazelnut export season, 24 thousand 849 tonnes of hazelnut exports were exported in return for 196 million 36 thousand dollars in foreign currency inflow.

Pointing out that there was an increase of 2 percent in quantity and 30 percent in value compared to the same month of the previous year, Cirav said, “In the 9-month period of 2024, 62 thousand 269 tonnes of hazelnut exports realised from Trabzon province and 533 million 623 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return.

“In the first month of the 2024/2025 export season, 3 thousand 148 tonnes of 25 million 583 thousand dollars of exports were made,” Cirav added…
