Türkiye’s dried apricot exports in the first quarter of the 2024/25 season revealed a successful graphic. In the first quarter of the 2024/25 season, which started on 1 August 2024, the country’s dried apricot exports were 25 thousand 461 tonnes, while the amount of foreign currency obtained from dried apricot exports surged by 12 percent from 112.8 million dollars to 125.5 million dollars.
Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters‘ Association, stated that the dried apricot yield in Malatya Province was predicted to be 107 thousand tonnes and that they entered the season with 7 thousand tonnes of stock and said, “We are in the first quarter of the season, they had a period in line with the 100 thousand tonnes export target they set for the 2024/25 term.”
Reminding that the World Health Organisation includes dried apricots in the list of healthy foods, Işık explained, “Dried apricot is an antioxidant-rich fruit, lowers cholesterol, nourishes muscles, is intestine-friendly and supports the digestive system. This year, weather conditions increased dried apricot production. We will focus on fairs, TURQUALITY and Development of International Competitiveness Projects, sectoral trade delegations and procurement delegations in order to transform our dried apricots into a value-added product.”
“In line with the Far Countries Strategy of our Ministry of Trade, we will focus on distant markets such as the United States of America, India, Australia, China, Japan, Brazil and South Korea. We will continue to work in coordination with our producers, traders, exporters, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Research Institutes, Ministry of Trade and Universities in order for our Turkish apricot to reach the value it deserves,” Işık added…
