“Long awaited yield in olives on the way”

Press release…

Akhisar (District of Aegean province of Manisa) Commodity Exchange Chairman Alper Alhat reported that they are experiencing a wonderful flowering period in terms of olive production.

“We expect a record yield this year,” Alhat said.

Alhat underlined that good news came from all over Türkiye this year. Pointing out that there is a very beautiful flowering in olive regions, Alhat explained, “Due to the drought in the world, there was a great low yield last season. Accordingly, olive oil prices rose excessively. Naturally, we upset our consumers a little bit. I hope this year, we will have a good season that we can satisfy our people. Our farmers will win with abundance of the crop. This is promising for all of us.”

SUPPORT PAYMENT SHOULD INCREASE…

Alhat also highlighted that farmers and producers have been having problems with support payments for many years, “For a long time, olive and olive oil premiums have been disconnected from reality. This situation is weighing down of our farmers who put their all and all against increasing costs, who labour and sweat. We expect sensitivity especially on support payment this season.”
