Joint steps to be taken for the future of cotton production in Şanlıurfa province…

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak to discuss the problems in cotton production and processing.

In the meeting held with the participation of public institutions, professional chambers and sector representatives, the necessary actions to be taken to improve the quality of cotton production were discussed.

COTTON PRODUCTION IS OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE FOR THE ECONOMY OF ŞANLIURFA…

Governor Şıldak emphasised that increasing the quality and production of Şanlıurfa cotton is of great importance for the regional economy.

Stating that Türkiye’s southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, the country’s largest cotton producer region, will address in detail the problems such as environmental pollution in cotton and diseases during the production phase, Şıldak drew attention to the importance of raising awareness of producers.

Pointing out that soaring the quality and production of Şanlıurfa cotton is very important for the economy of the region, Şıldak said, “All effects such as environmental pollution in cotton, diseases during the production phase will continue to be addressed in detail and that it is especially important to raise awareness of the producers in this regard.”

900 THOUSAND TONNES OF PRODUCTION ON 190 THOUSAND HECTARES IN ŞANLIURFA PROVINCE…

Highlighting that 900 thousand tonnes of cotton is produced annually on 190 thousand hectares in Şanlıurfa, Şıldak added, “This production should be processed in 380 ginning factories in the province and contribute to textile, industrial products, feed and food sectors. However, the negativities experienced in the processing and industrial processes adversely affect the quality of cotton.”
