Retail industry and supply chain stakeholders came together at the 8th Joint Development Congress organized by the Food Retailers Association (GPD) in Istanbul.

In the Congress, where the developments in the sector were discussed with the theme of “Now is the time for bread”; developments in food supply and what could be done to implement more efficient practices in agriculture and production were discussed.

“We will somehow support the solution of problems related to the food supply”

In his opening speech, GPD Chairman Galip Aykaç touched upon the development of food retailing, food supply, political relations between countries, climate crisis and inflation and then made a press statement. Emphasizing the purpose of the congress, Aykaç said:

“We, as food retailers, are organizing the 8th of this congress. Our initial aim here is to create a platform that discusses and solves manufacturer and retailer problems. We are doing the 8th of this, but this time we have made it a little different. The main reason for this difference is the food crisis in the world. We want to draw attention to this issue in this congress. Today, we have wanted to evaluate the part of the food from the field to the table with good messages.”

As food retailers, we will somehow support the solution of the problems related to food supply at this point and hopefully we will be able to cope with this situation by experiencing this situation less in our country compared to other countries. It is a good congress, the beginning is good, I hope the result will be good too,” he added…
