Turkish Tastes second edition launched in the USA…
The second edition of the “Turkish Tastes-TURQUALITY Project” book, supported by the Ministry of Trade with the participation of 6 food exporters’ associations under the roof of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), aiming to make Turkish food products more preferred in the USA, the world’s largest food importer with an annual food import of 160 billion dollars, was announced with a big event in the USA.
Bedri Girit, Head of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, said that the fisheries and animal products sector plays a vital role in meeting the world’s protein needs.
“We are among the top 10 countries in the world in all product groups within our association. As Türkiye in the aquaculture sector, we are the world’s largest producer and exporter of sea bass and sea bream. In addition, Turkish salmon, which we have recently started to grow in the Black Sea, has aroused great interest all over the world as the shining star of our sector. Again, we are ranked 8th worldwide in the production of poultry meat, one of the product groups of our Association.”
“When we look at eggs, our sector, which is the 5th in the world, exports to more than 50 countries. In the honey sector, we are the 2nd largest producer in the world and the 1st in the world in pine honey and produce 92% of the world. Thanks to the Turkish Tastes Project and fair organisations that we carried out to increase Turkey’s exports of seafood and animal products to the USA, Turkey’s exports of seafood and animal products to the USA increased by 18% in 2023 and reached a volume of 123 million dollars. As the protein providers of the Turkish Tastes brand, we will continue to support all kinds of cooperation with all our members.”
