Hayrettin Uçak: Türkiye’s fruit juice exports reached 500 million dollars

Fruit juice sector on track for 1 billion dollars export target by 2028…

Exports of the Turkish fruit juice industry soared by 10 percent in the last 1-year period, reaching 472 million dollars from 430 million dollars. The sector, which aims to exceed 500 million dollars in exports in 2024, has set an export target of 1 billion dollars for 2028.

Türkiye’s exports of fruit and vegetable products exceeded 2.5 billion dollars for the first time on an annual basis, while the strongest export item in the fruit and vegetable products group was fruit juices with an amount of 472 million dollars.

2024 target is to exceed 500 million dollars…

Hayrettin Uçak, Head of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that 10 percent of the annual fruit production is processed by the fruit juice industry and transformed into added value and that the export target of the sector in 2024 is to exceed 500 million dollars.

2028 target 1 billion dollar export…

Pointing out that peach, apricot, sour cherry and orange juices are consumed predominantly in the domestic market in the country, he adds, “Half of Türkiye’s concentrate (semi-finished product) exports come from apple juice concentrate. In exports, pomegranate and black carrot concentrate are among the country’s highly competitive products. While the average per capita consumption in Europe is 20 litres, Türkiye can only reach half of it.”

“Our fruit juice sector has the potential to grow both in exports and in the domestic market. In 2028, we foresee that Türkiye’s foreign exchange earnings from fruit juice exports will reach 1 billion dollars,” he concludes…
