“We realise the largest agricultural production in Europe”
Stating that they realise the largest agricultural production in Europe and are among the top 10 countries in the world, Emiralioğlu said, “We want to support agricultural production in our country by embroidering it at every stage. In this sense, under the leadership of our Minister, the agricultural production planning process has started as of 1 September 2024. This is a very important project that our country has been talking about for about 40-50 years but could not realise it.”
Highlighting that the production assets, which were around 98 million tonnes at the beginning of the 2000s, reached 138 million tonnes in 2024, Emiralioğlu noted, “This is a result achieved by our producers and farmers by getting more yield from the same lands. Increasing irrigation areas has an important share here. Our country is a net exporter country in terms of agricultural production. We realise the largest agricultural production in Europe and we are among the top 10 countries in the world. In this sense, our country’s soils are productive and our farmers have a good production. However, we have to further develop and diversify these production techniques at a time when food safety is so important.”
