Demand for turnip juice soared by 40 percent during winter time!

The demand for turnip juice, which has immune-boosting properties, has soared by 40 percent as the cold weather continues to affect Türkiye.

Turnip juice, which is exported to more than 30 countries, especially Europe, is among the most preferred healthy drinks on the tables with its immune system strengthening feature and unique flavour in the winter months.

Prepared with black carrots and special yeast, turnip, which is preferred by many people due to its flavour as well as strengthening the immune system, makes a significant contribution to the economy of the region and the country.

‘Vitamin A is very important’

Speaking to İhlas News Agency on the subject, Sıla Satıcı, Food Engineer of Büyük Usta & Serfressh Turnip Company, mentioned the benefits of turnip and said, “The fermentation process of our turnip, which we spend great efforts in the production, without using any preservatives and additives, mixing each barrel with traditional methods, takes about 25-30 days. Anthocyanin pigments in the purple carrot in the turnip play an important role in terms of health.”

‘Our turnips do not contain gluten, celiac patients can also consume them.’

Evren Şekeroğlu, Food Engineer of Büyük Usta & Serfressh Turnip Company, emphasised that the turnip they produce does not contain gluten and noted, “Our turnips do not contain gluten.”

Underlining that turnip consumption surged in the winter months, Şekeroğlu added, “After the pandemic period, people’s orientation towards turnip, which is beneficial to metabolism and helps to protect against diseases, has increased by about 40 percent as cold weather continues to affect Türkiye. Turnip has ceased to be regional, it has become a functional food, that is, a fermented beverage that is frequently consumed all over the country.”
