Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) Secretary General İ. Cumhur İşbırakmaz called on İzmir Foreign Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School students to learn Chinese so as “to make a difference in foreign trade”.
İzmir Foreign Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which is among the high schools determined as a pilot school within the scope of the education cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of National Education in October 2019, started to accept students in the field of foreign trade in the 2020 academic year.
Izmir Foreign Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Foreign Trade Department students are given intensive English education as well as a second foreign language education in accordance with their curriculum.
The Project Executive Board, which includes representatives from the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and the School management, decided to provide Chinese education from the second foreign language pool determined by the Ministry of National Education due to its weight and importance in different sectors.
Visiting İzmir Foreign Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Aegean Exporters’ Associations Secretary General İ. Cumhur İşbırakmaz gave a lecture to students about China’s position in world trade.
Informing that China is the second largest economy in the world with an annual export volume of 2.5 trillion dollars and an import volume of 2.1 trillion dollars, İşbırakmaz said, “Today, China is the second largest economy in the world. However, it is expected to become the world’s largest economy by 2030. Due to its Chinese background, it differs from western languages. Learning Chinese as a second foreign language besides English instead of a western language will take our young people 2-3 steps ahead in business life. We invite our young people to learn Chinese.”
