Cultivation of tropical products has been increasing in Çukurova Region in recent years. Yüreğir Chamber of Agriculture President Mehmet Akın Doğan stated that this situation will contribute to the economy and agricultural development. In Çukurova, Türkiye’s east Mediterranean fertile region, which is famous for its fertile soils, the cultivation of tropical products has become increasingly widespread in recent years. Tropical products contribute to both economy and agriculture.
Çukurova Region contributes not only to the domestic market but also to exports with a wide range of products, especially citrus fruits, cotton, wheat, maize, soya, vegetables and fruit varieties. In the region where tropical product cultivation has surged in recent years, products such as banana, strawberry, avocado, mango, dragon fruit and papaya attract attention.
‘Çukurova can become a tropical centre’
Speaking on the subject, Yüreğir Chamber of Agriculture President Mehmet Akın Doğan stated that the widespread cultivation of tropical fruits in the region will have significant benefits for the economy and agricultural development.

“Tropical fruits have higher added value than traditional agricultural products and have a high export potential. The export of these products, which are in high demand in European and Middle Eastern markets, will boost agricultural income by providing foreign currency inflow and create alternative sources of income for farmers. With the incentives to be given to Çukurova, which offers an ideal growing area for these products with its climate and soil structure, our region can become an important centre in tropical fruit cultivation,” he said…
