Press release…
Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they see significant potential in Southeastern Asian countries.
Kadooğlu announced that they will organize a Sectoral Trade Delegation Programme covering Vietnam and Malaysia from August 2-9, 2025, in line with the goal of boosting export market diversity.

“The fact that Asia and Oceania accounts for only 1.3 percent of the Southeastern region’s total cereal exports demonstrates the immense potential for new relationships for regional exporters with this large and dynamic market. Southeastern Asian countries like Vietnam and Malaysia are notable for their rising middle-class populations and increasing urbanization rates,” he said.

“In Vietnam, traditional food habits have been replaced in recent years by packaged, shelf-stable and functional foods. Malaysia, on the other hand, has a foreign-dependent food economy that adheres to Islamic principles and has a high demand for halal products. This, combined with Türkiye’s production and supply strength, could create a strong position for the Southeastern Anatolia region in the Asian market. Türkiye’s cultural proximity, experience in halal food certification and flexible production capabilities are among the factors that can give exporters in our region a competitive edge,” he noted.
Pointing out that the preliminary delegation visit they organized to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, prior to the August programme was a crucial step in accurately understanding the market, he added, “During the visit, we met with various supermarket chains, marketplaces, Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Importers’ Associations, allowing us to observe sectoral trends and consumer expectations firsthand. These efforts by our association will not only bring in new customers but also elevate the region’s production strength, quality standards and branding potential to the global arena.”
