Celal Kadooğlu: More than half of Türkiye’s plant product exports are cereals

Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, announced that more than half of Türkiye’s plant product exports are cereals.

Kadooğlu emphasized that cereals, pulses, oilseeds and other products lead the country’s plant product exports, with a share exceeding 50 percent.

“Plant products account for two-thirds of our country’s agricultural exports and the grain sector accounts for more than half of these. We are the largest exporter association in this field, and Southeastern Anatolia alone accounts for one-third of the sector’s exports. Gaziantep province, in particular, located at the heart of the Fertile Crescent, plays a leading role in production and exports with its strong industry and skilled workforce. Türkiye is among the world leaders in flour, bulgur and sunflower oil production and also ranks high in pasta, lentils, pulses and sugary products. A significant portion of these products is produced in our region and reaches the entire world from Gaziantep region,” he said.

Giving the information that Türkiye exported 215 million dollars to the United Kingdom, 244 million dollars to Germany, 17 million dollars to Bosnia-Herzegovina, 60 million dollars to Bulgaria and 20 million dollars to Serbia in the first eight months of the year, he noted, “Total trade reached 555 million dollars during this period, a 20 percent spike compared to the previous year.”

“Our sector has reached a total annual export volume of 12 billion dollars and this figure is growing rapidly every year. With stronger collaborations, we can far exceed our potential,” he added…
