Following the completion of the chestnut harvest in the Aegean province of Aydın, the products are being processed and prepared for export. According to FAO data, Türkiye ranks fourth in the world with a production of 71,000 tonnes, while Aydın is the province with the highest chestnut production. The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture is assessing hygiene and quality standards through inspections at the facilities.

According to FAO data for 2023, the country ranks fourth in the world with a chestnut production of 71,156 tonnes. While there are 3 million 17 thousand 855 chestnut trees across Türkiye, approximately 33 per cent of the chestnuts produced in the country are grown in Aydın province. Aydın continues to be Türkiye’s largest chestnut-producing province with an annual production of 24,315 tonnes, with 881,000 chestnut trees and 79,050 decares of chestnut orchards in the region.
