Stating that Türkiye exported 31 million dollars to the USA last year, Aydın Acun announced that 22 million dollars of exports in spices and aromatic plants were made to Germany.

“Last year, we surpassed the 250 million dollar band in exports. After the good year we had in 2021, 2022 and 2023 were actually not positive years in terms of spice and aromatic plants exports. 2024 was a successful export year in our sector,” said Aydın Acun, Chair of the Aromatic Plants and Spice Producers’ Association (ABUDER).
Aydın Acun also stated that they hope that the exports of spices and aromatic plants in 2025 will exceed 2024, but it is too early to say anything yet due to the frequent turmoil in world trade.

“Spices and aromatic plants are the sector in which we have a net foreign trade surplus,” Acun noted, “We import almost half as much as our exports. Therefore, our sector shows a desirable composition in foreign trade in our country.”
Highlighting that Türkiye is a very important player in bay leaf and oregano, Acun added, “More than 50 percent of the bay leaf and nearly 50 percent of oregano in the country, we export to the world. Both products exceeded 70 million dollars in exports last year.”
