THE AGENDA OF THE SECTOR EXPORT OF BULGHUR, CHICKEN, RED LENTILS AND PASTA…
Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board came together in Mersin province under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Trade Özgür Volkan Ağar, hosted by the Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB).
At the meeting held with the participation of Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Sector Board Chairman Ahmet Tiryakioğlu and Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB) Chairman Veysel Memiş and members of the Sector Board, the problems of the sector were discussed. At the meeting, where bulghur, chickpea, yellow broken peas, red lentils and pasta exports were evaluated, the issue of organizing an international fair once a year in Istanbul was also discussed.

Representatives of the Turkish cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products industry, which reached an export value of 5.44 billion dollars by increasing 31.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, between January and June of 2022, conveyed their expectations and demands to Özgür Volkan Ağar in the meeting that lasted about three hours, regarding the solution of the problems experienced in the sector.
The members of the Sector Board stated that approximately 1 million tonnes of bulghur is produced annually in Turkiye, that the sector more than meets the domestic needs and that the grown amount from production should be evaluated in international markets and demanded the removal of the quota imposed by the Ministry of Trade on bulghur exports.
Indicating that the export of bulghur is extremely important for the promotion of the country, since the name of this product in the world is known as bulghur, the members of the board noted that the export of such a product should not be subject to restrictions…
