Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Associations, said that Aegean Region continues to be the leader of organic product exports in Türkiye.
Pointing out that Aegean Region has been by far with the investments made in the last 35 years in organic product production, Işık said, “We carry out joint studies with our universities and institutes to protect our water, soils and products. In our project to investigate measures to reduce water use in dried fruit enterprises in cooperation with Izmir Institute of Technology, we have significantly reduced water consumption in our seedless raisin enterprises selected as pilots and ensured the reuse of the water used. With the additional alternative treatment processes proposed, it is possible to achieve a water recovery of nearly 50 percent.”
“We have been working with our research institutes and universities for many years to limit the effects of climate change and to increase quality and food safety in the production of sultanas, dried figs and dried apricots. When the results of these studies are reflected in our export figures, we are happy to see that we are on the right track,” Işık added…
