AHBİB CHAIRMAN VEYSEL MEMİŞ: WE MAINTAINED OUR STRONG POSITION DESPITE THE GLOBAL SLOWDOWN WITH EXPORTS OF 176.6 MILLION DOLLARS IN OCTOBER
Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association (AHBİB), stated that exports from the region reached 176.6 million dollars in October 2025, adding that the sector demonstrated resilient performance despite the global market downturn. Chairman Veysel Memiş said, “Although our exports declined in October compared to the same period last year, our product diversity, customer satisfaction and high value-added manufactured exports maintained our strong position.”

‘In October, we exported the most pulses, bakery products and milling products.’
Assessing AHBİB’s October export performance by product group, Veysel Memiş explained, “In the 10th month of the year, we sold 220,769 tonnes of products in international markets. Pulses, bakery products and milling products ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the list of product groups we exported the most in October. We exported 38.5 million dollars worth of pulses, 37.6 million dollars worth of bakery products and 24.3 million dollars worth of milling products. Red lentils were the most important product in our regional exports during this period. Red lentils, which reached a value of 28.5 million dollars, accounted for 17 percent of our sector’s exports to the region. This performance is extremely valuable in a period of increased global competition and rising input costs on an annual basis. Thanks to our members’ production power, R&D investments and marketing capabilities, we will close the year close to our targets.”
Highlighting that the surge in exports was particularly noteworthy in high value-added areas such as bakery products, processed foods and pet food, he added, “This trend shows that our sector also has strong potential in branded and shelf product manufacturing. Enhancing high value-added production will be the key to sustainable growth.”
