Work permit applications for experienced foreign shepherds to be employed in cases where the local workforce is insufficient in the livestock sector in Türkiye began to be accepted yesterday.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Türkiye allows experienced foreign shepherds to obtain work permits when there is a shortage of domestic labour in the livestock sector to support sector growth and production. Applications for foreign shepherds and animal caretakers working in livestock operations with large or small livestock are now being accepted through collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Employers can apply for work permits for foreigners with valid residence permits residing in Türkiye or coming from abroad for work. The application conditions specify minimum livestock requirements for different types of farms, and up to three foreign nationals can receive work permits per farm based on these criteria.
