VIOREL GUTU: TURKEY RANKS 7TH GLOBALLY IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Turkey has been a member of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) since April 6 1948 and takes place in the list of stars in terms of agricultural production of the organization.

FAO’s Sub-regional Coordinator for Central Asia and Turkey Representative Viorel Gutu said Turkey is in the Champions League of agricultural production and ranks 7th globally in this field,

Gutu said, “Turkey is also a major food supplier and trading partner for the Middle East, Europe and Asia.”

Gutu underlined that while Turkey plays an important role in many products in the world markets with a competitive advantage, on the other hand makes export of value added products like flour and pasta by importing raw materials significantly.

“Turkey is taking an active role in regional food and agricultural products trade. May also be called in agricultural production as self-sufficient. For example, Turkey’s wheat production can meet up and down domestic consumption in Turkey. Turkey also ranks 1st in flour exports across the world and 2nd in pasta exports,” Gutu added…
