The province where tea is consumed the most in Türkiye is Gaziantep, the region of gastronomy. Gaziantep was followed by Şanlıurfa, Muş and Diyarbakır provinces. It is estimated that approximately 50 thousand tonnes of tea is consumed in these cities every year.
General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) announced the list prepared by it on tea consumption habits in the country. Although the homeland of tea is the Black Sea, the report revealed that most tea is consumed in Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
THEY DRINK 50 THOUSAND TONNES OF TEA EVERY YEAR…
It is estimated that approximately 50 thousand tonnes of tea is consumed every year in provinces such as Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Muş, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Bitlis and Ağrı. Ceylon tea is predominantly preferred in Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions, which consume the most tea. In these regions, imported teas as well as domestic tea were among the frequently preferred teas.
