Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association (EKMMIB), who shared the knowledge that Türkiye meets 58 percent of the world’s dried fig need, said, “As the dried fig sector, we export to 115 countries. The first country we exported to was the United States of America with 37 million dollars of exports. France ranked second with exports of 31 million dollars. The third place in the list of the countries we export the most to is Germany with 30 million dollars.”
“We foresee the Far East as a Target Market”
Işık stated that they determined the Far East countries as the target market within the scope of the Far Countries Strategy of the Ministry of Trade and continued as follows; “As Aegean Exporters’ Associations, we will have a Trade Committee for Malaysia in March, where we expect our members to participate and we are planning to implement a URGE (Product development) project in the coming days. In this way, we believe that Türkiye will strengthen its position in global markets and increase market diversity in international trade.”
