While the Turkish fisheries sector exceeded the 2 billion dollar threshold in exports for the first time in 2024, Turkish salmon has written a great success story by increasing its exports 17 times in the last 5 years.
While Turkish salmon production was 5 thousand tonnes 10 years ago, it has reached 100 thousand tonnes today. If Turkish salmon maintains its current production and export growth rate, it will surpass sea bass and sea bream in the near future and become the leader in exports.
According to the data of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB); Türkiye’s exports of Turkish salmon was 29 million dollars in 2019 and then doubled its exports every year and reached 498 million dollars at the end of 2024.
While the Russian Federation continues to be the clear leader in Turkish salmon exports with 356 million dollars, the country sent 36 million dollars worth of Turkish salmon to Germany and 26 million dollars to Vietnam…
