EU feed production reaches 147 million tonnes…

European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) has announced its 2024 forecast for the EU compound feed production market. The new forecast shows a mixed outlook, reflecting various trends in the livestock sectors, influenced by economic, regulatory, environmental and animal health factors.

EU feed production reaches 147 million tonnes The FEFAC, the voice of the European compound feed and premix industry, has announced its market forecasts and compound feed production forecasts for 2024. According to FEFAC, economic uncertainty, regulatory changes and ongoing environmental issues and the effects of animal diseases were among the main drivers of the market in 2024. The federation expects these factors to continue to shape production dynamics across the EU in the coming year, affecting different animal feed sectors in various ways.

According to the latest data from FEFAC, industrial compound feed production in the EU27 will reach 147 million tonnes in 2024, a slight increase of 0.50% compared to 2023. Poultry feed production shows moderate growth, with an expected increase of 1.3%. This recovery comes after a difficult 2023 due to the recovery of poultry production in the main member countries, such as France, Spain and Portugal, which have been recovering from the effects of Avian Influenza since last year. However, poultry farming in Hungary and Italy continues to suffer from ongoing outbreaks of H5N1 avian influenza.
