TURKISH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES MEET IN ANTALYA…

Ali Kavak, Chairman of the Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Sector Board, announced that the year-end export target in fresh fruits and vegetables is 3.5 billion dollars.

Kavak said in his speech at the meeting that Türkiye is the fourth in the world in fresh fruit and vegetable production and the tenth across the world in exports.

The workshop organised by the Board of Directors of the Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Sector kicked off in Türkiye’s Mediterranean province of Antalya.

At the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Sector Workshop held at a hotel in the city centre of Antalya, the problems and export figures of the sector were evaluated.

Ali Kavak, Chairman of the Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Sector Board, told reporters that the workshop, which they routinely organise every month, was held in Antalya, which has an important potential in agriculture, upon the invitation of Western Mediterranean Exporters’ Association (BAİB) Chairperson Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu.

Stating that a significant amount of fresh fruits and vegetables are exported from Antalya region, Kavak said, “Antalya is a very important export and production centre for us. There is a serious production in the region and the products from here are served both throughout the country and abroad.”

Pointing out that as an Association, they are always in cooperation with the producers in growing and exporting quality products, Kavak also noted that they evaluate the problems they have identified about the sector together and solve them.

Emphasising that they are a sector without imports, Kavak reminded that they also make a very serious contribution to employment.

Çavuşoğlu, Head of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB), stressed that Antalya is a province that has a say in both production and exports in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Indicating that they come together with sector representatives every month in order to boos exports in the sector, Çavuşoğlu added:

“At the meetings, we discuss what we have done so far, what we will do from now on, what we should do, what our projects are. The state has certain supports for exporters’ associations, we evaluate them. We will carry out advertisement and promotion activities abroad, we discuss their contents.”

“We have an export target of 400 billion dollars for 2028 in the sector. Therefore, w have determined a road map for this,” he concluded.

The workshop, which was attended by Professor Dr. Senih Yazgan, Head of Uludağ Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, Tayfun Kılıç, Deputy General Director of Export of the Ministry of Trade, and sector representatives, will end tomorrow…
