Turkey’s hazelnut exports surged 45 percent year-on-year from September 2019 to this May, said a regional trade group on Tuesday.
Turkey, the world’s biggest hazelnut supplier, yielded 1.96 billion dollars revenue from the hazelnut exports, according to the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association data.
So far this season, which starts in September and ends in August, Turkey’s hazelnut export volume hit 294,304 tons, surging 26.5 percent year-on-year.
The country’s hazelnut exports were mainly to the EU which has robust food industries to process the nuts.
