The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has stated that there are no problems regarding product supply, noting that necessary measures will be taken if the trend of withholding maize from the market—driven by expectations of price increases—persists.

A statement from the TMO highlighted that the Board has commenced grain supply operations and noted that record figures were achieved in wheat and barley production this year.
Emphasizing that this production period is characterized by a robust supply structure, the statement included the following assessment:
“This high level of production has also been reflected in TMO’s procurement activities, with the Board experiencing one of the most intensive purchasing periods in its history. As the wheat and barley harvests draw to a close, the Board is also nearing the completion of the procurement process for these crops. Meanwhile, the maize harvest began in mid-August and the current harvest rate stands at approximately 20 percent nationwide. Due to market prices favouring producers, the TMO did not announce a specific corn purchase price. While strong supplies of wheat and barley persist, the maize harvest in the Mediterranean Region is nearing completion. With the Central Anatolia Region also entering the harvest phase, the supply of maize to the market is expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks.”
