In cooperation with the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) and Tavas Municipality, 12 waste collection points were opened as part of the Pesticide Packaging Waste Recycling Project in line with the goal of sustainability in agricultural production.
The opening ceremony was held with the participation of Ömer Celal Umur, Head of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters‘ Association; Kadir Tatık, Mayor of Tavas Municipality; Sezayi Pütün, Mayor of Beyağaç Municipality; Heads of Karacasu, Beyağaç, Kale and Tavas Chambers of Agriculture and members of the Sustainability Working Group formed with the participation of representatives of leaf tobacco exporting companies that are members of Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association.
Speaking at the opening ceremony in Denizli’s district of Tavas, Mayor Kadir Tatık stated that Aegean Region has an important position in Türkiye’s tobacco production. “As Tavas Municipality, we are always with our tobacco producers. We are working together to build a sustainable future that is sensitive to the nature,” Tatık said.
Pointing out that they have inaugurated 12 waste collection points as part of the pesticide packaging waste recycling project in cooperation with the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and Tavas Municipality, Ömer Celal Umur added, “As the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, we attach great importance to agricultural sustainability. We believe that clean and sustainable agricultural production is the key to a livable environment for our future generations and the continuation of the existence of our agricultural lands in the future. We aim to expand this project starting from the production of our important export products in our region. There are many other projects carried out by our sustainability working groups that continue to work within the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association, such as the recycling project of empty pesticide packaging waste.”
Ömer Celal Umur also highlighted that they will continue to provide support as Aegean Exporters’ Associations for the expansion of the project in the regions where agricultural production is intensive and thanked Tavas District Governor İsmail Demir, Tavas Mayor Kadir Tatık, Denizli Provincial Director of Agriculture Şakir Çınar, District Director Mustafa Ali Söylemez, Head of the Tavas Chamber of Agriculture Süleyman Tozlukoğlu and the members of the Working Group and all company representatives who contributed to the project…
